Visual Design Language
Designed Visual Language for Cisco Products such as WebEx, Jabber and Spark. Visual design and UX/UI design.
Project Overview
My first role at Cisco was working on a variety of application designs for multiple products. Each product had their own design language and users were faced with inconsistent visual layouts and choppy interactive experiences. Development of a new visual design language was an absolute necessity to offer consistent quality and a unified design experience for users.
My Role
Assisted in developing a core design value and worked closely with a global design team from the USA, China, Ireland and Norway to create the new visual design language for Cisco Products called "Futurama." Ensured WebEx products were aligned with Futurama.
Design Process
The Futurama design team met regularly to define and finalize the new language. Then, this new language was applied to the product key screens to get evaluated if these were feasible. The team was responsible for carrying on the new design language to the detail designs.
Component Library
After all visual languages were defined, the design team gathered all component assets and formed a library. This team led and distributed the guidelines and assets to cross-functional team members to assist in a successful Futurama implementation.
Futurama Products
Each product design team implemented Futurama to develop the design layouts. The visual design language was much improved across products.
WebEx Mobile
Led transition efforts to apply Futurama to the Android platform with a short lead time. Communicated with the development team and provided detail specs and assets. Participated in QA to ensure that the new design language was correctly implemented into the entire platform.
Symphony
Futurama was a vast improvement to Cisco's collaboration products. However, design trends continued to change rapidly and the design language had to be evolved to sustain the latest requirements. Futurama was then transformed into "Symphony."
Symphony Products
Collaborated with the global design team to define the style of Symphony. Applied the design language into Cisco WebEx, Jabber, and Spark products.
